I came to live in Manchester in 1972 and have lived several other places since moving there but all of them in the so-called Northshire of which Manchester is arguably the hub. Know for its tourist attractions and outlet stores and its proximity to ski areas, Manchester has certainly changed profoundly since I originally moved there.
Manchester actually had 3 Zip codes then but now reduced to two, referred to as the town and the village. The village is where most of the unspoiled architectural legacy is located and the town is where all the outlets, restaurants and lodgings are located. The one exception, of course, is the Equinox Hotel located in the village.
I think the town is also comprised of two cultures. There’s the one that existed before the flatlanders came and the one that was created after. It’s hard to find community there except in times of great challenge or when neighbors need helping out. I hope you will come there to visit.
